In early 2014 Britain was hit by severe winter storms and the South West took the brunt. All parts of Cornwall from the South/South West, to the North, got damaged. Which included our beautiful promenade in Penzance and the main railway line into the rest of Country, for which we were contacted by AMCO to help. The job began with an emergency scaffold bridge constructed to span a 90m gap of track that had been destroyed by the sea water so that services and signalling could resume. We also incorporated a cable ramp alongside the bridge for the cables to be moved into position and incorporated access stairs. The cables concerned were very important in connecting Cornwall to the rest of the country. These works then led on to several more scaffolding works for different contractors including giving access to the houses via pedestrian walkways so the residents could get access to We also scaffolded over 270m of edge protection along the sea wall and properties; site access scaffolds; scaffolds to fill the gap between the containers and the main breach; scaffolding over the containers where we had to overcome several hurdles including allowing the sea to run freely under the scaffold without disturbing the scaffolds’ stability.
